Bill called me early last week asking about going on Thursday (6/2/16) to figure out the new Garmin machine he just installed. We headed out just after 6:00 and were hoping for some Dolphin after seeing a few reports here. We spent a few minutes playing around in 80′ messing with side scan/chirp and decided to move on.
Andy was clearing a naked ballyhoo from the scattered weeds we were in and had a hit that clean cut the mono leader. Not long after that we have a screaming run on a flatline. Turns out we have a foul hooked kingfish in ~80′. Put him on ice and nothing after that.
Good day on the water even if it was slow fishing.
Ended up going out to 300′ looking for Dolphin with no luck. Lots of scattered weeds but no real formation of weed lines. Water temp was as high as 82.4F
